Stop Losing Time to Your Own Tools
Eliminate time-wasting habits, sharpen your everyday efficiency, and discover the best practices for the office software you already use — in a single, focused hour, before your workday even starts.
Why an Hour Can Change How You Work
Most professionals never receive real training on the software they use every single day. They learn Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint by trial and error, picking up habits that are functional but far from efficient. Over months and years, those small inefficiencies add up to hours of lost productivity — time spent hunting for a setting, rebuilding a report from scratch, or manually doing something a built-in feature could handle in seconds.
Our lecture-workshop series was created to close that gap quickly. Each session runs for exactly one hour, early in the morning, so it never eats into your workday. You leave with two or three concrete techniques you can apply immediately — not a long list of features you will forget by the following week. The format is intentionally small: a maximum of ten participants per session, which keeps the pace practical and leaves room for real questions about your own files and your own workflow.
Full Workshop Calendar
Sessions run from early May through mid-June, covering Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Each date below reflects one complete, standalone one-hour session.
What Each Software Track Covers
The fifteen sessions fall naturally into four tracks. Here is what to expect from each one.
Outlook: Reclaiming Your Inbox and Your Calendar
The two Outlook sessions tackle the two biggest sources of daily friction: an overflowing inbox and a calendar that never seems to leave room for real work. You will learn rules, folders, and search techniques that keep email under control, plus scheduling habits that protect focused time.
Excel: From Basic Spreadsheets to Real Analysis
The largest track, spanning best practices, macros, pivot tables, date and time handling, list comparison, one-click charting, data cleanup, and conditional-formatting dashboards. Together these sessions turn Excel from a static spreadsheet into an analysis tool that does the repetitive work for you.
Word: Professional Documents Without the Manual Labor
Three sessions cover styles and automated tables of contents for long documents, mail merge for mass communications, and structured document review across a team — the exact skills that separate a document assembled by hand from one produced efficiently and consistently.
PowerPoint & Forms: Presenting and Collecting Information
A dedicated session sharpens your slide layouts and animation, while the closing workshop shows how to build simple, effective forms your organization or your clients can actually use without confusion.
Practical Details
Every workshop runs from 8:00 to 9:00 AM, before the rest of your day begins, so attending never means stepping away from ongoing projects. Groups are capped at ten participants, which keeps the format conversational and leaves time for questions about your own files. All sessions are presented using the 2007 version of the Microsoft Office suite; the 2003 version is available on request for organizations that have not yet upgraded.
Because seats are limited, we recommend calling ahead to reserve your place, particularly for the Excel sessions, which tend to fill first. Whether you attend a single workshop or the full series, each session is self-contained, so you can pick exactly the tools that matter most to your role.
Who These Workshops Are For
The series was built with administrative assistants, coordinators, analysts, and managers in mind — anyone who spends a meaningful part of the day inside Outlook, Excel, Word, or PowerPoint but has never had a chance to learn the software properly. You do not need to attend every session. Many participants pick two or three workshops that map directly onto tasks they handle every week, such as building recurring reports in Excel or preparing client-facing documents in Word, and skip the rest.
Because each session is self-contained and limited to a single topic, newer employees and experienced staff learn comfortably side by side. A participant who has used Excel for years may still discover that pivot tables or conditional formatting solve a problem they have been working around manually for months, while someone newer to the software gets the same clear, practical grounding without feeling behind.
