Our Story

Training Built From the Real Problems Managers Face

Formation Le Ber was founded on a simple observation: most professional training tries to teach concepts, when what managers and teams actually need is a set of reflexes they can rely on under pressure. A manager rarely has time in the middle of a difficult week to think back to a slide from a seminar months earlier. What they need is a way of approaching a problem that has already become second nature.

That observation shaped everything about how we design our programs. Rather than building generic courses and hoping they apply to every workplace, we built a catalogue of focused, practical training experiences — from a full ten-module management development program, to one-hour office software workshops, to language coaching, to internationally recognized leadership models — each one designed to solve a specific, recurring problem that real organizations bring to us.

Over time, that approach has let us work with public sector groups, private businesses, and individual professionals who simply wanted to get better at a part of their job that had never been formally taught to them. Whether a client comes to us for a single one-hour workshop or a full year-long leadership program, the same philosophy applies: teach what will actually be used on Monday morning. That single principle has guided every program we have built since, and it continues to shape how we design new content today.

Why We Exist

Our Mission and Our Vision

Our Mission

To equip managers, teams, and organizations with practical, field-tested tools that make daily work easier, sharpen leadership reflexes, and help every team consistently deliver the results the business expects — without drowning people in theory they will never use.

Our Vision

To be the training partner organizations turn to first whenever a real, specific challenge shows up — whether that means developing a first-time manager, cleaning up inefficient habits in Excel, or building a shared leadership language across an entire company.

What We Do

A Full Range of Practical Training Programs

Rather than a single one-size-fits-all course, we offer a portfolio of focused programs, each addressing a distinct need. Organizations often combine several of them to cover management development, day-to-day software efficiency, language skills, and leadership at once.

Manager leading a team discussion

Manager Development Program

A ten-module path, delivered in partnership with Kata Management, covering everything from personal effectiveness to leading change — available as a public session or a custom in-company cohort.

Professional working on a laptop spreadsheet

Office Software Workshops

One-hour, early-morning lecture-workshops on Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, built to eliminate time-wasting habits and introduce features most users never discover on their own.

Two colleagues having a conversation

Speak With Us — English Coaching

Ten hours of English conversation coaching focused on accent and pronunciation, available in group or individual format, designed to protect language skills built during the training year.

Leadership training session with a group

Situational Leadership II

A globally recognized leadership model that gives your organization a shared language and process for adapting leadership style to what each team member actually needs.

Who We Serve

Organizations of Every Size, One Consistent Standard

Over the years, our programs have been used by small teams of five people and by departments spanning several hundred employees. What stays constant across every engagement is the standard we hold ourselves to: training has to translate into something a participant can actually use the next day at their desk, in a meeting, or in a conversation with their own team.

Private Sector Companies

From manufacturing floors to professional services firms, private companies bring us specific, often urgent challenges — a new layer of first-time managers, a team drowning in inefficient spreadsheet habits, or a leadership group that has never shared a common vocabulary for how they lead.

Public Sector & Institutions

Public organizations often turn to our public sessions to develop managers without building an entire internal training function, taking advantage of the fixed Québec City and Montréal calendar to enroll individuals or small groups as needs arise.

Growing Teams & Assistants

Coordinators and administrative assistants make up a large share of our office software workshop attendees, since these are the roles most likely to spend entire days inside Outlook, Excel, and Word without ever receiving structured training on the tools themselves.

Leadership & Executive Teams

Senior leadership groups frequently choose the in-company Situational Leadership II program specifically to build a shared diagnostic language that filters down through every layer of management beneath them.

How We Work

Our Approach, Step by Step

Every program we build, regardless of topic, follows the same underlying process. This consistency is what lets us move quickly with new clients while still tailoring each engagement to their specific context.

01

Listen First

We start by understanding the specific challenge a manager, a team, or an organization is actually facing — not the generic version of the problem.

02

Match the Format

We recommend the right format: a public session, an in-company cohort, a short workshop, or one-on-one coaching, based on what will actually get used.

03

Train for Application

Every session is built around tools participants can use the same week, led by advisors with real management and coaching experience.

04

Support the Follow-Through

We stay available after training ends, whether through a follow-up call, an additional workshop, or ongoing coaching sessions.

What Guides Us

The Values Behind Every Program

Practicality Over Theory

If a concept cannot be applied within a week of training, we do not consider it finished. Every module is tested against real, everyday use.

Respect for People’s Time

From one-hour morning workshops to full development programs, we design for the reality of busy schedules, not an idealized amount of free time.

Experienced Advisors

Our trainers bring real management, coaching, and language-teaching experience into the room — not only academic credentials.

Partnership, Not Prescription

We adapt programs to your organization’s vocabulary and context rather than delivering the same fixed material to every client.

Consistency Across Formats

Whether public or in-company, group or individual, every session holds to the same standard of quality and practical relevance.

Long-Term Relationships

Many of our clients return year after year, moving from one program to the next as their teams and challenges evolve.

Our People

Advisors Who Have Actually Done the Job

Behind every Formation Le Ber program is a small team of training advisors who bring direct, practical experience to the topics they teach — not simply academic knowledge of management theory or software features. That experience shows up in the way sessions are run: questions from participants are answered with real examples, not textbook definitions, and the tools taught are ones our advisors have used themselves in their own careers.

This is deliberate. A manager asking how to handle a difficult conversation with an underperforming team member needs an answer grounded in what actually works, not an abstract framework. A coordinator trying to build a faster Excel report needs someone who has built that exact report before. Our team is built around advisors who can meet participants at that level of practicality, session after session.

We also invest in keeping our advisors current. Software changes, management expectations evolve, and the challenges facing a new manager today are not identical to those of a decade ago. Rather than teaching from a fixed curriculum that never changes, our team regularly updates program content based on what they are seeing in the field, so the examples used in a session stay relevant to the way organizations actually operate today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Our Programs

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from managers, assistants, and organizations considering training with us. If your question isn’t covered below, our team is always happy to walk through the details over a phone call or by email.

Do I need to attend the full Manager Development Program, or can I join individual modules?
The ten modules are designed to build on one another, so most participants complete the full program to get the complete arc from personal effectiveness to leading change. That said, organizations building an in-company cohort can discuss a customized selection of modules with our team if only certain themes are a priority.
How many people can attend an office software workshop?
Each workshop is capped at a maximum of ten participants. This keeps the pace practical and leaves enough time for participants to ask questions about their own files and their own day-to-day tasks, rather than following a fixed script for a large audience.
Which version of Microsoft Office are the workshops based on?
All office software workshops are presented using the 2007 version of the Microsoft Office suite. The 2003 version is also available on request for organizations that have not yet upgraded their systems.
Is the “Speak With Us” English coaching open to everyone, or only current participants?
“Speak With Us” is offered as an exclusive rate for participants already enrolled in one of our training programs. It is designed specifically to help those participants maintain the English skills they built during the training year, particularly over the summer months.
Can Situational Leadership II be delivered privately for our company?
Yes. Situational Leadership II is available both as a public session and as a private, in-company program tailored to your organization. Many companies choose the in-company format specifically to build a shared leadership language across their entire management team at once.
What is the difference between a public session and an in-company program?
A public session places you alongside participants from other organizations, on a fixed calendar, in Québec City or Montréal. An in-company program is delivered exclusively for your team, on a schedule and with examples tailored to your specific business context.
How do I register or ask a question about a specific program?
You can call us directly or send an email, and our team will help you choose the program and format that best fits your needs, whether that is a single workshop or a full development program for your organization.
